There may be nothing better to encourage our pollinator populations, detoxify our surroundings, and ecologically restore our environment than native species of both plants and animals. Every area upon the Earth contains special conditions, and there are plants and animals that need those unique living conditions! Native plants have developed specialized traits throughout the generations that allow them to be masters of their rightful homes. These traits are stored within the seed, the seed of the fruit, and the seed of the animal. The balance, vigor, and goodness flush out into the outside from the seed, as well from the outside into the seed.
And God said, ” Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.
Bamboo is a fast-growing, renewable resource, that can easily be sustainably managed. Bamboo provides us with food, building material, and detoxification services. Throughout history, humans have utilized this wonderful gift for everything from housing to weapons! There are many different varieties of bamboo diverse in colors, shapes, and growing habits. Clumping bamboo is considered the best choice for homeowners and micro-farms. Running Bamboo can prove invasive and unpredictable. Some varieties are more builder-friendly than others as well.
The Organic Sanctuary team just built a very simple bamboo wedding arbor yesterday. The bamboo was harvested at a local permaculture farm, left in a protected area to dry, and then sealed with an Eco-friendly sealant. Wood dowels and biodegradable fiber twine was used to secure the structure, and it will be decorated with flowers before the wonderful day. This is just one simple possible bamboo creation.
Bamboo makes an excellent addition to any tropical or semi-tropical permaculture farm.
